Prologue

Meet Journey Stoneheart, an investigative journalist who has graduated from one of Europe’s finest institutions. On the day of his graduation Journey and the rest of the students are greeted with unknown aerial danger from above just moments after his ceremony begins. As turmoil shakes the ground from beneath him, he is separated from his friends and family. Alone and afraid, Journey will find himself the end of a haven in front of a large ship. This ship is where Journey meets a Modern King named Cornelius El Glossal. As Journey is guided to safety in his ship with survivors just like him, King Glossal and his crew narrowly escape the east and set sail west over water. As Journey enters the new world from within the confines of promised safety, he soon realizes the threats that lie ahead are more deadly than they appear in the Kings original offer. With no chance of going back home through the King, Journey sets off on an epic adventure to escape New Heart and return east before it is too late to do so again. Modern Kings is a futuristic, epic-fantasy tale of division, unity, politics, philosophy, and relationships from the eyes of Journey Stoneheart.
